In 2002 the Rolls-Royce and Bentley brands were split. Rolls-Royce was purchased by BMW, who went on to build a completely new motorcar and factory. The Crewe factory and Bentley brand became a division of Volkswagen, and continue to produce the current Bentley range. For those of us who love the older Rolls-Royce motorcars, ties to Crewe, and the Bentley motorcars it builds remain strong.
